Ever found yourself aimlessly scrolling on your phone and wishing you were doing something more productive?
Well, I’ve found a fun and enlightening solution: Learning by reading whatever you want.

You’ve probably heard that our attention span has continued to decline since tiktok and co. Take advantage of this by reading Articles, but only until another article grabs your attention. Here’s how I use this amazing tool to learn something new every day.

1. Daily Dose of Knowledge with the Featured Article

Every day, the Wikipedia widget serves up a fresh featured article right on my home screen.

Whether it’s about a historical event, a scientific breakthrough, or a cultural phenomenon, I make it a habit to read at least one featured article daily.

It’s a perfect way to start the day with a nugget of knowledge, and it’s often something I wouldn’t have thought to look up myself.

I even track my habit in reading the featured article every day!

2. Embrace Randomness with the Random Article Button

Feeling adventurous? The Wikipedia app has a random article button that I absolutely love.

One tap, and you’re whisked away to a random page filled with new and unexpected information. This feature is perfect for those moments when I have a few spare minutes and want to learn something totally offbeat and intriguing.

One minute I’m reading about the life of a medieval knight, and the next, I’m deep into the fascinating world of quantum physics.

3. Going Down the Rabbit Hole

Wikipedia is like a treasure map, and every link is a clue leading to more hidden gems.

As I read through an article, I can’t resist clicking on links that pique my curiosity. This often leads to an enlightening rabbit hole of interconnected topics.

For instance, I might start with an article on the Moon landing, click on a link about Neil Armstrong, then jump to space suits, and end up reading about the history of space exploration. It’s a never-ending journey of discovery!

4. Set Up the Wikipedia Widget on Your iPhone

If you’re not already using the Wikipedia widget, here’s a quick setup guide:

  1. Add the Widget: Long-press on your home screen until the icons jiggle, then tap the plus sign (+) in the top corner to add a widget. Search for Wikipedia and select the size you prefer.
  2. Customize It: You can customize the widget to show the featured article of the day, a picture of the day, or a random article. I keep mine on the featured article for daily learning.
  3. Interact Daily: Make it a habit to check the widget every day. Read the featured article, or tap for a random one whenever you have a moment to spare.

5. Benefits of My Wikipedia Routine

Since I started using the Wikipedia widget, I’ve found myself:

  • More Informed: I’ve accumulated a wide range of facts and insights that often come in handy during conversations or trivia games.
  • More Curious: Each article sparks new interests, leading me to explore topics I’d never considered before.
  • More Productive: Instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media, I’m spending my time learning and expanding my knowledge.

Conclusion

Incorporating the Wikipedia widget into my daily routine has been a game-changer. It’s a simple yet powerful tool that transforms idle moments into opportunities for learning and growth. So, if you’re looking to expand your horizons and have fun while doing it, give the Wikipedia widget a try. Happy learning, folks! 📚✨
